Abstrak

PT RYB, a tire manufacturing company, is facing a high defect rate on tires,
especially at Plant A, which produces bias tires for trucks, buses, and mining
vehicles. Plant A is supported by the Engineering department to maintain the
reliability of production machines, while the Final Inspection department
ensures tire quality before sale. The Repair Tire process is used to fix damaged
tires, especially the tread, as defects can render tires unsellable (scrap), with
workers cutting on the floor in squatting and bending postures. To improve
repair quality, a semi-automatic Repair Tire tool was designed using a heater
cartridge, pneumatic cylinder, thermocouple sensor, and Smart Relay as the
control system. The research used anthropometric methods to determine
machine dimensions and REBA (Rapid Entire Body Assessment) to analyze
worker posture before and after the tool design, component testing using the
verification test method, and the implementation of the repair tire tool. With
this method, PT RYB is expected to reduce defect rates and improve product
quality. The design results of the repair tire tool show a reduction in the REBA
score to 4.
