Currently the workbench used by Dept. PRL employees needs repair. The work
This study aims to modify the Frame Guide Edge Tape on the DBB3 Steel
Cutting machine to reduce scrap caused by edge tape off center issues. The
modification process involved designing a new frame and edge tape shaft seat
using SolidWorks software, followed by analysis through the Finite Element
Analysis (FEA) method. The frame was modeled in 3D to ensure stress
distribution and safety factors met the required standards. The total mass of the
frame was calculated at 348.27 N. Simulation results showed the maximum
stress on the frame was 0.186 MPa with a safety factor of 1.346, while the shaft
recorded a maximum stress of 242.764 MPa with a safety factor of 1.0. Weld
joints were tested for strength, producing a maximum load of 48,352 N,
significantly exceeding the actual working load of 40.912 N, confirming their
structural safety. Bolt connections were also evaluated, showing a shear stress
of 1.86 N/mm², well below the allowable limit. The analysis results indicate
that the modified frame design can improve safety and has the potential to
reduce production scrap. The implementation of this design is expected to
minimize material loss and enhance the operational efficiency of the DBB3
Steel Cutting machine
