CC Company is a coal mining company operating in East Kalimantan
Province. Machine maintenance and repair are necessary to ensure smooth
production processes. The fixed plant department area is located at the port,
where the process of transferring coal from hauling to barges takes place. The
coal transfer process to the barges uses a conveyor, followed by a chute that
transports coal at a rate of 2000 Tph (tons per hour) with a conveyor speed of
3.2 m/s. This results in friction between the chute walls and the coal entering
the chute, causing the chute walls to wear out. The objective of the research is
to modify the chute liner and calculate the material strength, especially the weld
joints, bolt connections, and friction velocity. The researcher uses an
experimental research method by modifying the chute walls, which originally
used ASTM A36 material, to ceramic alumina. Based on calculations, it can be
concluded that the bolt connections, weld joints, load analysis, and wear
velocity produce safe values. The bolt connection strength is 4.191 N/mm² with
an allowable stress value of 90.9 N/mm²; the weld joint strength is 226,650 N
with an actual load of 4,359.996 N; the load simulation results in a stress value
of 0.10108 N/mm² with a material yield strength value of 250 N/mm²; and the
comparison of material wear velocity before and after modification is
3.959x10⁻⁸
respectively.
